Cool down with chia charge ice lollies

July 01, 2015

With this heat wave upon us we all like a nice cold ice cream or even ice cubes in our drinks, so I decided to try a couple of recipes this morning and after waiting for them to freeze and the obligatory taste test I can now share them with you.

First up is a delicious chocolate, banana and peanut butter chia ice lolly, for which you will need the following:1 banana

1 dessert spoon of peanut butter (you could also use chia nut butter)

1 scoop of chocolate muscle mousse (you could use chocolate protein power or cocoa powder may do the same job) Muscle mousse is a great low fat, low sugar but high protein dessert which I really like.

All you need to do is place the ingredients into a blender and blitz until smooth, then pour into ice lolly moulds, place into the freezer and leave for a few hours.  I had a bit of mixture left over so poured this into an ice cube tray.

also had the idea of some unusual ice cubes which can be eaten on their own or be perfect in a cold glass of water, coconut water or lemonade.

For these I just blended some watermelon with 2 teaspoons of chia seeds and a little bit of water then poured into a nice cube tray and topped with a blueberry then froze them, so simple and refreshing.

I hope you are enjoying the warm weather and that these recipes help to cool you down.
