I had come up with the idea of a gingerbread smoothie but it didn't quite turn out as planned so I adapted it and made it a festive smoothie. I am not qualified in nutrition but having met dietitian Renee McGregor I think that this smoothie is great for recovery with protein from milk, yogurt and chia seeds as well as fresh ginger which is a natural anti inflammatory to help those muscles which have been working hard!

    Ingredients

    • 1 Large Banana
    • 2 teaspoons of chia seeds
    • A small piece of fresh ginger chopped up (you can add more or less to taste)
    • 2 tablespoons of oats
    • 175g of yoghurt (1 small pot)
    • 150ml of milk
    • 1/2 teaspoon mixed spice
    • Handful of raisins

    Method

All you need to do is stick it in a blender and blitz until smooth, easy. I found the raisins weren't completely blended but it was quite nice with them like that.

Unfortunately I don't have a photo as it was just too tasty!
